A Day at the Spa Is Great Stress Relief

Like many people today, I live a very stressful life and when I am not at work, I am always busy caring for my two young children. One day, I decided to get a massage at a local spa to ease my sore, aching muscles. Once I entered the salon, I realized they had a great half-day package deal that also included a manicure, pedicure, and a body wrap. I decided to go for the package and I found the experience very relaxing. My stress virtually melted away and I now take time to visit the spa every month to enjoy the package. I am eager to share my experiences with salons and spas with others who want to learn more about what they have to offer on my new blog!

3 Things You'll Want To Know Before Getting Your First Facial

Blog

If you have never been to a spa before for services, getting a gift certificate for a facial can be an awesome gift. It can also be a little intimidating to use a gift certificate for a facial and other spa services if you have never really treated yourself to a spa before. Here are a few things to know about getting a facial that will make you more comfortable with the process:

#1 Skin Examination

Before you get your facial, the aesthetician who will perform your facial is going to give your skin an examination. Kind of like when you go to the doctor's office, the aesthetician may ask you questions about your skin. They may ask you what type of skin you have, or what type of skin issues you deal with. For example, does your skin get dry in the winter? Are certain parts of your face dryer than others?

Your aesthetician will ask you those questions to better understand your skin and the type of treatment you need. They will use your answers to help you choose the right type of treatment to try out.

#2 Tried and True Versus Natural

There are different styles of facial treatments. There are the more tired and true facials such as chemical peels, glycolic acid peels, and microdermabrasion. These types of facials are offered by dermatologists and aestheticians. These types of facials have been around for decades, and are proven to provide your skin with very specific benefits.

The other type of facials are more natural treatments. These facials are made out of more natural elements. Think more like yogurt or avocado based fascial. These types of fascial may not have as many scientific studies to back up their benefits, but they are usually designed to use natural ingredients that have been shown individually or together to be beneficial to your skin.

#3 Facials Take Care of Your Skin

Finally, it is important to realize that facials are designed to take care of your skin, not change your skin. It is like getting your teeth cleaned, not like getting your teeth whitened. When you get a facial, it is designed to clean out your skin on a deep level. This can have some beauty implications as well. Your skin may feel more clean and clear after your fascial. However, fascial are not designed to get rid of your wrinkles or make sagging skin disappear. Knowing what fascial are supposed to do will help you manage your expectations.
