A Day at the Spa Is Great Stress Relief

Like many people today, I live a very stressful life and when I am not at work, I am always busy caring for my two young children. One day, I decided to get a massage at a local spa to ease my sore, aching muscles. Once I entered the salon, I realized they had a great half-day package deal that also included a manicure, pedicure, and a body wrap. I decided to go for the package and I found the experience very relaxing. My stress virtually melted away and I now take time to visit the spa every month to enjoy the package. I am eager to share my experiences with salons and spas with others who want to learn more about what they have to offer on my new blog!

3 Tips for Your First Microneedling

Blog

Microneedling is a popular beauty treatment that can help with wrinkles, sun spots, acne scars, and overall skin texture. Many people who receive regular microneedling treatments find that their skin looks younger, more uniform, and has more of a glow than it did before starting the treatments. Like with most beauty treatments, it's important to know what to expect before you book an appointment. Here are three tips for your first microneedling treatment:

Your Face Will Be Numb During Your Microneedling

Microneedling is performed by your aesthetician gliding a pen with tiny needles over your face. This causes extremely small, unnoticeable tears to form in your skin, which in turn stimulates new collagen growth. Within a few days, your skin will look younger and healthier, and the effect is enhanced by getting regular treatments.

Because tiny needles are involved, your aesthetician will need to use a numbing cream on your face at the beginning of your appointment. It can take up to an hour to kick in, so be sure to bring something to do while you wait. You may want to read a book or bring headphones to listen to a podcast.

You Will Likely Be Red Afterward

You will most likely experience red skin for a few days afterward, and the redness will be the most noticeable for the first day. Your skin may also peel. In most cases, the redness can be covered with makeup, but since your skin will be a bit sensitive, you may want to go without it.

For this reason, it's a good idea to have your microneedling treatment performed when you can rest and stay inside for a few days. For example, have your treatment on a Friday and by the time you return to work on Monday, the redness should no longer be noticeable.

Be Sure to Follow the Aftercare Instructions

Your aesthetician will likely send you home with an aftercare kit following your microneedling appointment. It's important to use these products and follow the instructions. The creams and serums included in your aftercare kit will be designed to help heal and moisturize your skin without further irritating it. This will help make sure your healing process is quick and easy.

Following these tips and going to an experienced aesthetician will ensure you are happy with your microneedling treatment. You may find this is an ideal addition to your regular beauty treatment regimen.
