A Day at the Spa Is Great Stress Relief

Like many people today, I live a very stressful life and when I am not at work, I am always busy caring for my two young children. One day, I decided to get a massage at a local spa to ease my sore, aching muscles. Once I entered the salon, I realized they had a great half-day package deal that also included a manicure, pedicure, and a body wrap. I decided to go for the package and I found the experience very relaxing. My stress virtually melted away and I now take time to visit the spa every month to enjoy the package. I am eager to share my experiences with salons and spas with others who want to learn more about what they have to offer on my new blog!

What Is Liposuction, And Is It Right For You

Blog

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that contours the body by removing pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is typically performed on the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, and neck. The goal of liposuction is to create a more aesthetically pleasing shape by removing excess fat deposits.

Liposuction is not a weight-loss surgery and should not be used as a substitute for healthy lifestyle choices such as eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly. Patients should be at or near their ideal body weight before considering liposuction. The best candidates for liposuction are generally healthy, non-smoking adults with realistic expectations about the results of the surgery.

How Is Liposuction Performed?

Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Once you are sufficiently sedated, the surgeon will make small incisions in the treatment areas. A small, hollow tube will then be inserted through the incisions and used to suction out the unwanted fat cells. The surgeon will also use this opportunity to sculpt the contours of the treatment area for an aesthetically pleasing result.

What Is the Recovery From Liposuction Surgery Like?

While you will need a friend or family member to drive you, most patients are able to return home on the day of their surgery. Recovery after liposuction usually takes a few weeks. During this time, patients should take it easy and avoid strenuous activity or exercises that can cause bleeding or swelling at the incision sites, two common side effects of liposuction. While the swelling subsides in a few weeks, it can take several months for all of the swelling to disappear and the final results to be revealed.

How Long Do Liposuction Results Last?

Once all of the swelling has dissipated, patients will be able to see their final results. These results are usually long-lasting as long as patients maintain a stable weight and do not gain significant amounts of weight after their surgery. However, it is important to note that liposuction does not prevent future weight gain. Therefore, patients should still eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly after healing from their surgery in order to maintain their results over time.

The best candidates for liposuction are generally healthy adults with realistic expectations. However, if you have small pockets of resistant fat, you should be happy with the results. Talk to your physician to learn more about liposuction treatment or other cosmetic surgery options.
